Diversity Immersion Institute (DII) is a partnership between University Libraries and graduate students from the College of Information Sciences. DII exposes graduate students to people and perspectives from diverse communities while encouraging them to become advocates of inclusion in their professional careers.
DII caters to a small cohort of male high school students of color from the Life Pieces to Masterpieces (LPTM) apprentice program and DeMatha High School. These high school students come to campus for an immersive three-day college experience that will highlight the rigors of collegiate study and expose them to the many facets of Information Science as a career. Over the course of DII, these students participate in classes led by professors, while the graduate students assist with lesson planning and presentations.
Making a gift today will ensure this developing partnership will continue to grow enabling young students the opportunity to explore careers in Library Science.
