Help Equip the Terrapin Rocket Team

About Us

Terrapin Rockets is a student organization at the University of Maryland that designs and builds high performance model rockets. We compete in various competitions each year ranging from target-altitude focused launches to telemetry payload launches. Currently, our group consists of 16 members who represent various majors, backgrounds, and experience levels when it comes to building rockets. This is our 3rd year as a student organization, and we need your help to build new and more advanced rockets!

Our Project

We have competed in target altitude competitions in the past, and this year we will also be competing in a video payload event during the spring. However, we are looking to grow and advance our rockets by branching into liquid propulsion, a much more powerful engine system that allows for much higher flights. In order to do so, we need your assistance to complete the construction of a liquid propulsion test stand that will be used to test and develop more advanced rocket engines for our future members to compete with.

The $5,000 in funding we are hoping to raise will go directly to the team. These funds will be used to purchase the parts necessary to build our competition rockets this year, and complete the construction of the liquid propulsion test stand by the end of the year.

Gifts in support of the University of Maryland are accepted and managed by the University of Maryland College Park Foundation, Inc., an affiliated 501(c)(3) organization authorized by the Board of Regents.  Contributions to the University of Maryland are tax deductible as allowed by law.  Please see your tax advisor for details.

Donors giving this amount would cover the cost of competition registration fees. You'll also receive an awesome Terrapin Rockets sticker!

$50

Senior Engineer

A donation of this amount will cover the cost of rocket motors for all of the launches of a single rocket at a competition!

$100

Rocketeer

Donors who give this amount will be funding the costs of parts that new team members will use to build their first rocket!

$200

Rocket Scientist

Donors who give this amount would fund a complete competition-ready rocket and payload!

$300

Astronaut

At this level, donors are now considered a team sponsor, getting their name on our competition rockets and team t-shirts! Donations of this amount would cover the teams building expenses for this year's competitions and the transportation funds to get to them!

$1,000

Mars Colonist

Donations of this amount will help pay for custom parts and the development of our high powered liquid propulsion system.
