Preserve the White House Pool Reports

White House Correspondents' Association presidential pool reports are increasingly important in today's news environment. These reports are critical in documenting the day-to-day activities of the administration. Please help us preserve and make an online accessible archive of these historical chronicles.

Making a gift online today will ensure this archive is available for students, faculty, staff and journalists all over the world.

The total cost of this project is $350,000. The initial goal to raise $100,000 will subsidize the first phase of digitizing the material so it is accessible and available to the public.

Please help us reach our initial goal of $100,000 by making a gift today.

Preserve the Pool – Our Overall Project

The White House Correspondents’ Association and the University of Maryland are creating a unique new window into the world of the U.S. president and the press — a permanent digital, searchable archive of presidential pool reports produced by White House correspondents.

The White House Correspondents’ Association Pool Reports Collection will be kept at the university and available online for the general public, journalists and scholars. The collection will complement materials at the University of Maryland Libraries that document the history of radio and television broadcasting, including the Library of American Broadcasting and the National Public Broadcasting Archives.

The second phase of this project will support the outreach and curriculum around this important collection. Through a partnership with the University of Maryland Philip Merrill College of Journalism, College of Information Studies and University Libraries - as well as the Freedom Forum Institute - work will extend beyond creating the digital archive to include developing scholarly programs and publications.

Gifts in support of the University of Maryland are accepted and managed by the University of Maryland College Park Foundation, Inc., an affiliated 501(c)(3) organization authorized by the Board of Regents.  Contributions to the University of Maryland are tax deductible as allowed by law. Please see your tax advisor for details.
