As we conclude our crowdfunding this year, we are reflecting back on the successful 2018 MARC-ACSM experience. Here is a photo of the 2018 KNES group after the Keynote lecture by Dr. Larry Kenney (Penn State) and the Quiz Bowl (congratulations to our colleagues at Drexel!).
We're also looking to the future, and although several of the KNES graduate students' presentations were scheduled at overlapping times, our undergrad group was up and early to support Harry Li (center) for his 8am poster presentation!
We will organize some recruitment next spring to grow our group for the 2019 conference. We'll likely have another crowdfunding campaign, so look for that next October. Thanks to all who gave support - financially, collegially, and otherwise. I hope we will have your help again next year! From the 2018 KNES group and Coach Jo Z
The MARC-ACSM 2018 Quiz Bowl had a very different format, but the event was as much fun as it was challenging. Our team of 3 (Valerie, Katherine, and Kayla, pictured below) did well and ended up about in the middle of the pack of a record 19 schools participating. The team coaches had more to do as we were assigned to a competing school to report scores and help judge overall, and I was assigned to our friends at WVU. The team support was great, as you can see (Kevin, Melissa, and Sammy) in one audience shot, and some of the UMD grad students and faculty were there for us, too. We're already planning for next year...and we hope you will help us again! From Coach Jo Z
Halloween means the MARC-ACSM meeting is just days away. Our group is smaller, due to exams and other academic demands, and "life stuff", but our core group of 6 spook-tacular students are still planning for a great experience. Please continue to share the links for this crowdfunding, so we're able to prepare earlier next year. Thanks for your support of the group, and we'll keep working to grow the participation for next fall.
Watch for updates from the 2018 event all weekend! - from Coach Jo Z
What do students do at the MARC-ACSM meeting? Most are attending for information about research across the spectrum of Kinesiology, or to meet clinical practitioners to plan for their advanced education and careers. A few, like Eric last year, present their own projects. That's why MARC-ACSM is great - undergraduates present almost as much as the graduate students, and this is valuable experience to gain in a much less formal setting. Thanks to our early supporters! Tell all your friends that we're happy to have donations of any size! From Coach Jo Z
We have celebrated our 125th anniversary with friends and colleagues, and we've also enjoyed a successful Homecoming weekend. We also have a strong start to our Launch crowdfunding campaign to send our undergrads to the MARC-ACSM meeting in Harrisburg, PA in a few weeks. Thanks to our early donors for getting us going! For those of you still thinking, here's a photo of Sammy and Melissa showing off their conference badges from last year. See how excited they are?? Now these gals are part of the leadership to help grow our MARC-ACSM group. Please help if you can, and any amount makes a difference! Thanks from Coach Jo Z
