The Graduate School (GS) encompasses all graduate programs at the University of Maryland, making it one of the largest graduate education enterprises in the country. The GS provides visionary and strategic leadership for graduate education through the Office of the Dean and the Graduate Council and in collaboration with the university’s 12 schools and colleges and other campus units.
The Graduate School’s mission is to advance graduate education and enhance the graduate student experience for our nearly 11,000 students. We serve as home base for the entire graduate community, offering guidance and support from application to graduation and every milestone in between. Our offices, each dedicated to a particular area and staffed with area experts, work together to ensure seamless support to students, faculty, staff, alumni, and programs.
The University of Maryland Graduate School (GS) is committed to the success of graduate students and invests university financial resources to provide students the time and support needed to complete their studies and research. Graduate School fellowships support students by providing a stipend, and in some cases a tuition award, giving the student time to conduct research or write. Graduate School Fellowship and Award Guidelines can be found on the Student Fellowships and Awards web page.
The Graduate School also provides resources to assist students in identifying and applying for external fellowship opportunities. We hope students take advantage of the workshops, webinars, training sessions offered throughout the year. Please see the Graduate School Calendar for upcoming opportunities.
