What is Giving Tuesday?
Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement that unleashes the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and their world. The date was chosen as a balance to the consumerism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past ten years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
Gifts in support of the University of Maryland are accepted and managed by the University of Maryland College Park Foundation, Inc., an affiliated 501(c)(3) organization authorized by the Board of Regents.
