First-year students at the Philip Merrill College of Journalism face an average of $17,000 in unmet financial need; that number is significantly higher for those from out of state. Your scholarship support ensures talented and diverse students from across the country can access Merrill College’s transformative educational experience.
From day one, Merrill students practice real-world journalism. They report on local news, investigate issues of national importance and elevate the discussion of race, gender and politics in sports journalism. Elite faculty teach them compelling writing, data analysis and visualization, effective interviewing, rigorous fact-checking, and website and multimedia design. As a result, #MerrillMade graduates earn their ticket to the top of the media industry.
