Nyumburu Cultural Center Giving Tuesday

Nyumburu Cultural Center Giving Tuesday Supporters,

Since 1971, the Nyumburu Cultural Center at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP) has stood as a beacon of hope, support, and pride for the Black community of UMCP and the surrounding area. The Nyumburu Cultural Center also has the distinction of being one of the oldest Black cultural centers in the nation.

The Center continues its legacy of advancing the academic success of students through academic support, cultural awareness and retention programs. Activities and events like the Black Male Initiative, Black Explosion Newspaper, Juke Joint (Open Mic), Leadership Series, Miss Unity Scholarship Pageant, NACPE, SOUL, Kwanzaa Celebration, Homecoming Tailgate, Black History Month Celebration, The Maryland Gospel Choir and News Break are among the numerous offerings.

The internationally recognized Giving Tuesday scheduled for Tuesday, November 29, 2022 is the perfect opportunity to positively impact African American and African diaspora students on the University of Maryland campus. Donations will enable the Nyumburu Cultural Center to support students through scholarships, internship and externship opportunities, and provide a forum for marginalized voices to be heard.

All gifts and donations are tax deductible. You will receive confirmation of receipt of donation from the University of Maryland College Park Foundation (UMCPF) a 501(c)3 entity.
