Team AloeSporin is a Class of 2024 undergraduate research team within the University of Maryland, College Park Gemstone Honors Program.
AloeSporin aims to create a cut-and-scrape ointment that can combat bacterial growth and stimulate the rate of skin cell regeneration. Ultimately, the team will add data and research to the field of antibiotics and plant medicine in hopes of contributing to the search for a solution to antibiotic resistance.
Thanks to everyone who supported our project during our first LaunchUMD, our team is in the process of ordering reagents to start our first round of experiments by mid-March!
We are excited to return to Launch for Giving Day 2023, where your support will enable our team to further develop our experiments to collect data over the summer, attend conferences to share our work, and seek publication towards the end of 2024.
Your support will give us the unique opportunity to conduct research as undergraduate students, and aid in our contribution to new medical discoveries in the early stages of our careers.
Gifts in support of the University of Maryland are accepted and managed by the University of Maryland College Park Foundation, Inc., an affiliated 501(c)(3) organization authorized by the Board of Regents. Help fund our community outreach and campus survey which aims to measure student awareness of antibiotic resistance and prescription misuse.
Every dollar counts! Help us by donating towards our lab supplies fund, which goes towards everything from tubes, tips, pipettes, dishes, and other general lab materials.
Fund our purchase of aloe vera, antibodies, cell culture medium, and assays kits!
This donation level supports our purchase of the bacterial cell lines and human skin cell fibroblasts we will be testing aloe vera against.
This supports each and every part of our mission! We thank you in advanced for your support!
