Jack Godfrey Memorial Scholarship

Welcome to the page for the Jack L. Godfrey Scholarship Fund. On November 6, 2014, Jack passed away after complications from a 2013 assault that left him hospitalized in life-threatening condition with severe swelling and bleeding in his brain. 

This scholarship in his honor will facilitate students at the university who share Jack’s love for creative writing and expression while exemplifying his intensity, talent, and passion in their storytelling. 

His 21-year-old frame was packed to the brim with fathomless movie information, the intellect of a baseball connoisseur years beyond his age, and an unquestionable passion for his friends and fraternity softball. Jack’s unparalleled honesty, comfort, and humor created bonds between himself and his teachers, his friends, and his family. Stretching from his hometown friends and family in Ardsley, New York, to the students in College Park, to his family across the continent in San Diego, California, Jack’s ability to be there for those around him was felt powerfully from coast to coast. 

Jack will be missed by his fellow Tau Kappa Epsilon brothers, the Greek life community, and the University of Maryland on which he made such a permanent impact in his three years at school. 

Please join Tua Kappa Epsilon and Jack's family as we raise funds to make the Jack L. Godfrey Scholarship a permanent scholarship at the University of Maryland, College Park so that future generations of Maryland students can carry on Jack's legacy.
