Who We Are
We are the UMD Barbell Club, a sport club here at the University of Maryland for those interested in strength sports, such as powerlifting and weightlifting. We started in 2013 as a very small club for students who needed a better training environment. Now, we currently have about 50 active members, multiple student coaches, and practice six times a week. During practice, members are free to train as they wish and use the club's equipment. As a team, we're able to learn from each other and push one another to get stronger.
Our Goal
Last year, we sent a team to USA Powerlifting Collegiate Nationals for the first time. With a small team of 11 lifters, we were able to place 7th! We're trying to do even better in the future with bigger and stronger teams. This year, we want to send 17 lifters to Collegiate Nationals in April. Our team consists of full-time students that have qualified for nationals in their prospective weight classes. However, trips to San Antonio, Texas are expensive, so we need your help! We're hoping to raise $8,000 in order to pay for the team's plane tickets and hotel rooms.
Any contribution is extremely appreciated and we are so grateful for your support! Thank you!
