(April 2021) -Nasim Rahmatpour under the direction of PI Fay-Wei Li (Boyce Thompson Institute, Ithaca NY) have created a chromosome genome assembly of Marsilea vestita. This is the first fern assembled at the chromosome level. This noteworthy accomplishment was realized by combining data assembled by the Illumina data made available from this crowdfunded effort, nanopore long reads, RNA data, studies of spermatogenesis and transposable elements. This achievement gives us a holistic view of the fern genome space and will no doubt be a reference for many studies in the future.
Your $10 donation will allow the sequencing of approximately 1,000,000 base pairs.
Your $25 donation will allow the sequencing of approximately 2,500,000 base pairs.
Your $50 donation will allow the sequencing of approximately 5,000,000 base pairs (about 1% of the genome).
Your $100 donation will allow the sequencing of approximately 10,000,000 base pairs (about 2% of the genome).
Your $250 donation will allow the sequencing of approximately 25,000,000 base pairs (about 5% of the genome).
