Send UMD's Solar Decathlon Team to Denver!
Who We Are
The U.S. Department of Energy's Solar Decathlon Competition is a two year design and build competition rooted in solar power, sustainability, and alternative energy. This year, thirteen colleges from all over the world will be attending the competition. The University of Maryland's entry, reACT features a modular home that minimizes resource consumption and maximizes the occupant's comfort through a functional model and automation. reACT stands for reactive adaptive climate technology. Our team has been working for over a year to develop this fully-solar powered home that also focuses on water conservation and energy efficiency.
How You Can Help
This year's competiton will be hosted in Denver, Colorado in October. We will have about 30 core team members out in Denver for just under 30 days. Those kind of travel expenses can really add up! Between the plane tickets, lodging, and meals, we need your help to make it to our competition. Your generous donations will allow us to travel to Denver and proudly represent the University of Maryland as we construct and display reACT among the other competing homes in the Solar Village. Every donation counts, and we appreciate any contribution you can make!
