We are coming down the home stretch of the Diamondback digitization project! All the content from the very first issue of The Triangle on January 1, 1910, through the end of the fall 1998 semester is now available online at go.umd.edu/dbk_archives! Seeing this dream for the University Archives coming to fruition is very, very exciting, and we are delighted that you chose to support this effort.
You have a chance on #GivingDayUMD to push us a little closer to our goal. We need $10,000-$15,000 to finish digitizing the paper issues up to the present time, and with your help, we will make it happen. Please visit givingday.umd.edu on Wednesday, March 7, to make a gift and join Testudo in supporting UMD!
Thank you to all our donors to Read All About It!: Finish Digitizing the Diamondback! We've made a great start on raising the the funds we need to complete this transformational project and will push ahead on converting issues of the paper to digital form. We will send progress updates as additional work is completed, and please continue to enjoy the results of our efforts on go.umd,edu/dbk_archives.
If you know of individuals or organizations who were interested in contributing to our project who missed the deadline to contribute to this effort through our Launch campaign (midnight on December 17, 2017), please let them know you can still give a gift to the Diamondback Preservation and Access Fund at any time. To donate online, visit go.umd.edu/givedbk. If they wish to send a check, please ask them to visit the How To Give page on go.umd.edu/dbk_archives for directions.
Thank you again for your support!

This morning we were able to extend the end date for Read All About It! to midnight, Sunday, December 17. This allows us some more time for responses from Diamondback alumni with whom we visited at the reunion last Saturday and to annual giving appeals that have just dropped. Please share this news with others whom you think might be interested in contributing and encourage them to make a gift.
Thank you for your continued support for this transformational digitization project!

Terrific way to fuel up for finals and support our Diamondback digitization initiative at the same time!
We had a terrific time at the Diamondback alumni reunion event this morning, despite the snowy weather. Having the opportunity to meet so many former Diamondback staff and showcase our project was amazing, and many of these grads made a gift on the spot! Among the special guests were David Simon, creator of "Homicide," "The Wire," "Treme," and "Deuce," Tom LoBianco, the White House reporter for the Associated Press currently covering the Trump-Russia investigations and Vice President Pence, and Ivan Penn, the first African American editor-in-chief of the paper.
We met our match challenge from the Friends of the Libraries today, which will add another $10,000 to our coffers, and are only a few hundred dollars short of meeting our match challenge from Maryland Media Inc. If you know any former Diamondback reporters or editors, please encourage them to give a gift by midnight December 13 when our campaign ends, so we can win an additional $2500 for our project.
Thank you for your support and enthusiasm for our work!
Team DigitalDBK
Today we notified all the winners of the contests we ran as part of our Launch UMD campaign from November 27 through December 5. Several winners chose not to make their names or the amounts of their contributions public on our site, so we are respecting their wish for privacy.
We can tell you, however, that former Diamondback editor Marc Wexler won the Terpindor T-shirt!
Thank you to everyone who gave a gift during this time period. Team DigitalDBK greatly appreciates your support and your enthusiasm for our project!
Keep up the good work! Only 6 more days to go!
On Saturday, December 9, Team DigitalDBK will be participating in the first-ever reunion of former Diamondback and Capital News Service staff. Nearly 170 alumni from the 1960s forward have registered for the event, and we are very excited that we will be able to talk to attendees about our digitization project and ask for their support. Following the brunch reception from 10 AM to 12 Noon, alums will have the chance to see our men's basketball team in action vs. Gardner-Webb University or take a brief walking tour of campus, ending at the current Diamondback offices.
Looking forward to seeing many former Diamondback editors and reporters in just a few days!

Please help us keep the momentum going, and share information about Read All About It!:Finish Digitizing the Diamondback on your social media platforms and with anyone whom you think would be interested in supporting this initiative.

Today we are officially announcing the second match for Read All About It! Team DigitalDBK greatly appreciates the gifts we have received so far, and we would love to have your help in spreading the word about these matches and encouraging your friends, family, colleagues, classmates, roommates, indeed all your contacts to support our project! Thank you for your assistance in making this Launch campaign a success!
Kind of fun to watch the donor heatmap on our Launch site! This feature was added to the ScaleFunder software that powers the site since our last Launch campaign in 2015.
