UPDATE: We've reached our original goal of $4,000 and are now working towards a strectch goal of $5,000! Even though the status bar says we've reached over 100%, we still need your support!

Who We Are

Engineers Without Borders is a non-profit organization that partners with disadvantaged communities to improve their quality of life through implementation of environmentally and economically sustainable engineering projects, while developing internationally responsible engineering students. Engineers Without Borders has been an official student group at the University of Maryland, College Park, since 2004.

Why Ethiopia?

Addis Alem, Ethiopia is a small town with 14,000 people, most of whom lack access to basic health provisions like clean drinking water and adequate latrines. Since starting in Addis Alem in 2009, the EWB team has constructed a sustainable community center, storm water retention facility, and a bridge.

Our Mission

EWB’s Ethiopia Project concerns a stormwater management issue and a lack of proper protection from elements in the Ejere community marketplace, located about an hour west of the country’s capital, Addis Ababa. This project will help local vendors run their businesses, and improve the lives of all those living in the community.

How You Can Help

Any donation you can give will greatly help our mission in Addis Alem, Ethiopia. Whether helping to cover travel expenses for students or buying building supplies to improve the marketplace, your support will make a difference.
